Capture the Spirit... Welcome to the "Gateway of the South", where the St. John's is the only major river which runs upstream with the Nile; where the old Barnett Bank Building wears a capstone. Welcome to The River City Oracle, covering the largest land mass in the United States, Jacksonville's alternative news and opinion source... ![]()
12/25/2004 - At any given time at any intersection, freeway or highway you will notice a thick presence of law enforcement. Observing the city throughout the day you would need a computer to keep an account; there are sub-stations throughout the cities in strategic places; surveillance cameras monitor the freeways; and little eyes; big eyes, eyes from the sky record our every move; we go to the gas station, we are giving away information with our bank cards. If we travel out west or out of the country we can be tracked, our neighbors have become watch patrols, we are not relaxed, we cannot freely move, we are very apprehensive in our actions; some of us are enemies of the state; they show it to us in movies. Did you see Soy-lent Green, you must rise above it to see it.
Special Report - Hurricane Frances Jacksonville Florida 9/5/2004 9:09 pmEye on the storm... A Bird's "Eye" View of Frances ![]() Governor Jeb Bush has declared the state of Florida a major disaster area; the evacuations as previously reported has been the largest in state history and probably the whole United States being 2.8 million people. There are 4 million people reported in Florida to be without power and so far one death has been reported in Gainesville Florida just west of Jacksonville. Countless people have lost their homes while others have had extensive damage to their property. Hundreds of people fled their homes to the safety of designated shelters to no avail. One shelter reportedly had the roof blown off and had to evacuate 320 people to another location. Many people were stuck in Florida who were on vacation from various states and countries. Airports posted signs which read, "This is not a shelter."
9/5/2004 6:00 pm From: The Journal of James Bow This animated gif comes courtesy of James Koole, who is really cool, and has contractually obligated me to say that. (No, not really.) I'd just like to say a pre-emptive good luck to my blogging friend and fellow Doctor Who fan Chas Martin, who lives in Orlando, Florida, and looks likely to have his weekend ruined, again, by a hurricane. Best of luck to everybody in Florida right now. I have to say, I'm looking at the National Hurricane Centre's website and Hurricane Frances is looking pretty scary. It's already a category four and it's moving slowly over open, warm water. I hope I'm wrong. Back in 1998 (I think it was 1998)... The Journal of James Bow Florida battened down the hatches for Hurricane Floyd, only to have that hurricane give the state a miss. (This was then followed by Hurricane Irene, a category one that took a wrong turn in the Gulf and whacked Miami across the Everglades). Maybe that will happen here too. I'll keep my fingers crossed. {THE FOLLOWING LINK IS VERY VITAL INFORMATION MAYBE A LITTLE TOO LATE BUT WE FELT THIS WAY WHEN WE REPORTED THE LEAD STORY IN OUR COVERAGE ABOUT JACKSONVILLE'S MAYOR NOT TELLING THE PEOPLE OF HIS CITY TO LEAVE...} James McCanney Science Emergency Hurricane Update via RealPlayer http://www.jmccanneyscience.com/sh09-02-04-7megfile-bestsound.rm {BRACE YOURSELF JACKSONVILLE!!!} "It is my prayer That The Mighty Gods Of Nibiru Protect and watch over us chosen and elect."
![]() 9/2/2004, 10:57 pm - Newly elected mayor of Jacksonville Florida John Peyton went into a meeting today at the Emergency Operations Center (E.O.C.) at 2 pm and emerged at 3:46 pm saying Frances poses no threat to Jacksonville, telling the people to stay put, there is no emergency; Interstate I-95 is as one news reported like a parking lot full of cars instead of an interstate highway - over 2.5 million people have started traveling north and inland from south and central Florida running from the worst storm in a century early reports said now it is reported as largest in a decade; one report said since 1950; the state Emergency Operations Center placed Florida on high alert, i.e. Activation level is at it's highest, this being the case why is the mayor of Jacksonville saying there is no threat of the storm-is it because of the already now high traffic on I-95; or is it to show how cool Jacksonville can be under pressure, only time now will tell if he made the right choice... from the Above Top Secret web site here is an intelligent look at the storm headed towards Florida... We will keep you posted as events develop etc.
